Course title: Basic social media basics

  • The channels - Bluesky LinkedIn, Instagram  

  • Who is your audience?  

  • Different ways to communicate  

  • Accessibility for environmental science.   

  • What's your key message?  

  • The challenges with communicating about environmental research on social media.  

Trainers: The session will be run by Amanda Woodman-Hardy and Adele Hulin at the University of Bristol who have many years of experience under their belt running the communications for the Cabot Institute for the Environment. They are adept at engaging different audiences through different formats such as social media, large scale public events and working with artists.  


Course title: Science to Policy Training (with Welsh Government and Natural Resources Wales)  

Year Groups : All welcome

Date: 21-23 April 2026 (2.5 days including travel time)

Delivery: In-person, Cardiff (venue TBC)

Content: This is a fantastic opportunity to engage in first-hand workplace experience with Policy Makers alongside our Partners, the Welsh Government and Natural Resources Wales.   

Schedule (TBC closer to the date)  

  • Tuesday – Travel to Cardiff and half-day academic-policy workshop  

  • Wednesday – Welsh Government Discovery Day  

  • Thursday – Natural Resources Wales site visit and return travel
